To save confusion I have modified the subject to what may or may not have been obvious in the first place.

So far it looks like Ronaldson-Tippett is the clear leader.

My first preference for 'Favourite Australian Engine Manufacturer' goes to the firm of Jelbart; second place to Ronaldson Tippett.

It's the design of the Jelbart and that unique exhaust note that sets them well apart from any other brand as well.

I was very fortunate to have been able to purchase a 4H.P. hopper cooled Jelbart engine (ex-Munro bag elevator engine complete with original sub base) in original condition, running order and on a trolley. All I have had to do with it since purchasing it was replace a couple of leaky gaskets and put four eyelets on the transporter to make it easier to tie down and simply 'rally' it and enjoy it. I am very pleased with it.

Hopefully either on Boxing Day (certainly not before Christmas as I have to 'tinkle the ivory' quite a lot at the Cathedral) or New Years Day I'll be able to get the Jelbart out and give it a run along with a few of the other engines in the collection. If I have some technologically 'savy' friends around we could take a video and put it up on Youtube.

Best regards to all for the Festive Season,

Villiers and Norton Villiers has to be in there just for the shear number and variety of engine built.

I believe that Ronaldson tippet would have to hi on the list building Austral's for so many years in all sizes from 3hp to 20hp plus and so many units. My Father and i own 2X4hp units and they are simple reliable and robust. Other oz engine's are unique and quirky but Austral's get my vote.
