The barrel is on the right way around for that model F&J, if the exhaust pot in the barrel was on the same side as the one in the head it would blow crap all over the magneto

Here is a catalogue image of the Fuller & Johnson showing the position of the cylinder exhaust port and muffler.

Hello all.
I can say I know that from experience. Crap all over the magneto is definitely an understatement.
Seeing next year is the 100th birthday of Jeremiah I was thinking about giving him a new lease on life which will involve turning the barrel around so his magneto remains relatively clean when he has a good run.
I wonder if the PM and Queen will send him a telegram for his 100th birthday?

Cheers Scott

This shows the position of the exhaust on my engine as well as the rarely seen spark plug cover.

Our Buzacott has the maggy hanging out the back so no black soot or oil covers it when the engine is running. It also has the spark plug in the head and not the barrel.

Scott, thanks for that I have started a database to try to work out when various modifications happened to the F&J Farm Pump Engine such as embossed flywheel, change from plug in cylinder to plug in head, change from brass ID plate to S/N stamped in flywheel.

i would be getting them for free, but i dont really have the time to restore them at the moment, i just dont like seeing them out in the open like they are. (i am tied up with my steam obsession)
the pumper may have the pump part near it, in the grass, but i didnt know what i was looking at until i did a google search.
the fuller and johnson has the cast lettering in the flywheel, and turns quite freely.
the ronnie doesnt turn, but it has no signs of real abuse that would prevent it from turning over.
Thats a good idea Scott........many people have different ways of setting them up for shows .It would be good to see other peoples idea's ........I'll be in it!

Ian, looks like 117385, you just make out the 5, which makes it 1923.  Is it your engine?
