alamo
« on: 23 April, 2014, 08:28:20 pm »

I have a horizontal 7hp Alamo engine no.13101, I acquired it about 25yrs ago from a gentleman in his 80's who had saved a lot of equipment from being scrapped, and he had cleaned and painted and stored it all in his shed , backyard and under his house in newstead.  can anyone suggest the correct colour for this engine? I don't think it was blue. thinking I should get it going for tas. nat. rally.

Pete, I reckon it should be engine coloured.
Good to see you've got the system worked out, hang in there.

Sounds like you have a nice engine Peter.  I'd agree it probably would not be blue.  Have you looked at DENIS ROULEAU's site?

thanks tim,
mine is similar or same as the 1905 7hp, which looks to be dark blue or green?  I also have the cooling tower/tray, reservoir tank and water pump from a portable engine that the gentleman I purchased it from had taken spare parts from. unfortunately he left the transport behind somewhere on the east coast of tas. about 50 yrs ago.

Yep OK about Davey Crockett:

Davey Crockett broke his sprocket
Tried to fix it with a socket,
(which he kept inside his pocket)
He still had original docket,
(Kept inside a little locket)
After he had fixed his sprocket,
Things went off like a rocket.

Don't like this? Please don't knock it,
Or even worse, write in and mock it.

Just for you, Steeleye Phil

Sorry Peter for sidetracking your serious question. I blame Steeleye for winding me up. Teddy
