Moffat Virtue shearing plant - colour
« on: 19 August, 2014, 08:58:42 pm »
I am completing the restoration of a Moffat Virtue shearing plant and wish to confirm the colour scheme please.  I have sanded back a lot of the frame and discovered blue paint!!  My thoughts are that items such as these, and all or most of our collections and usually green, green and green.  Appreciate if the colour for this can be confirmed as green (mid Brunswick to be specific) and the blue was possibly done as a personal preference by a previous owner.

Hi Neil,
the M-V engines are usually green and it seems to be quite a bit brighter than mid-brunswick green (but I have seem M-V engines painted almost every colour). I have seen a couple of M-V shearing plants where the engine is green but the shearing plant itself may have been blue.
Attached are some pics of green M-V engines.
