Cooper (Stover) Type W help
« on: 20 August, 2014, 07:15:27 pm »
Hi there,
Looking for some parts for a new project I picked recently.  It is a 3hp tank cooled Cooper (Stover) Type W dating from about 1920.
The main part I'm missing is the igniter bracket.
The engine has the remains of an EK Wico magneto trip fitted, so an EK bracket would be ideal but I’d be happy to use any other igniter type – high or low tension.
The igniter studs are 3/8” diameter on 2-7/16” centres.
I’m also missing the rocker arm, choke plate, splash guard, mixer knob and gear guard.
If anyone can help source an igniter bracket or any of the other parts would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Tim

Does anyone have a Cooper W with buzz coil ignition and can send me a photo of the points set-up?
There is one in the latest TOMM at the Maryborough Clearing Sale but can't see what I need.
Gave the engine a pressure wash yesterday and pulled the piston out.  At first glance the bore looks ok.  The push rod, gears and fuel pump are heavily rusted and siezed.  The fuel tank was full of water and can't separate from engine yet as the fuel pick-up is rusted in place.

cheers

This is what would have been fitted to suit an EK Magneto.
