Mcdonald Super Imperial Diesel
« on: 25 October, 2014, 07:15:51 am »
Hi I am restoring a Mcdonald Se at present with the serial number 3195 . I would like to know the date of this engine and if possible get a manual for it. I am more than happy to pay for copying and postage. Other than that some close up photos of the injector and associated  linkages. Yes I did take photos but they are forever lost in in the internet void.  Cheers Rudy

Hi Don is going to do the main bearing for me ,I am working on the bore to see how far out of round it is before ordering new rings as the gaps are 40 to 90 thou. Then there is the deguking that old diesels are very fond of. If it needs reboring is it best to do it insitu orpull  the bore? Cheers Rudy

Have been looking  at the valve guides and they need replacing, does anybody have any or do I have to turn them up, and if so can it be turned from cast iron. Cheers Rudy

If you were able to make your own I would use bronze for the guides. Or if you can identify what is in there as original go with that.

Hi I made them from cast iron and now have to ream them to fit .does anybody have any diagrams of the engine, especially the internal governing system as the bearings seem to be missing from the governor. The re3son the white metal bearing have suffered id that a previous owner missassembeld the oil pressure bypass valve ,meaning the big ends and main bearing had no oil.I am also after the cap that fits on the crankcase cover. Cheers Rudy
