Favourite photograph
« on: 14 January, 2015, 11:24:12 am »
Hello all
Now we all have photo's of old stuff and I thought it would be good for people to share their favourite photograph of old stuff whether it be car, engine, tractor or what have you.
I'll start the ball rolling and here is one of my favourite pictures and it involves an old peddle car I brought a little while ago, some kids and a bit of a family get together.
Some young people aged from 3 to 8 played with it until they could not push it up the hill again. It all worked extremely well as they organised that the person who's go it was hopped in at the bottom of the hill and the rest pushed it up the hill and then gave it a shove to get it going down the hill again. When/if they got to the bottom then it was swap driver and it all happened over and over again.
I know some people may be horrified in using an old peddle car for kids entertainment but I believe things are mention to be used.

This photo simply reminds me of my childhood. We all went out and played until we fell asleep. These kids did just that on that particular day.

I'm looking forward to other peoples pictures and the story.

Cheers Scott

This one is one of my favourites. My little engine man was not even 2 when he decided to had to help. I had been working on an Austral and put the screwdriver down, Samuel picked it up and went straight to where he had seen me working :)

My favorite photo, that's a very hard one to decide on, I started collecting antique firearms when I was 14 years old. I didn't come into Engines until 15 years ago. I suppose my favourite photo is the one attached. That is me at 35years old and the two revolvers are Very Rare Colt Dragoon Models of the Percussion Cap fired Revolvers of the 1840-60 period.

Hi All,  I hope I have not upset the rest of you by posting my pic of two very rare old pieces of machinery that are not Engine Related. This thread is about  :" your favorite photo."  I just cannot believe that there no further entries here. Surely you are not all "anti gun".  Come on now, send in a pic that you are proud of, even if it happens to be your wedding pic. cheers,John

Hello all.
Thanks for the pictures and story chaps. Something old, something new. It's all good.
What's your story Ian? I'm assuming National Service or some such thing.

Oi Phil. Where's your favourite picture with something old in it? A wedding photograph will not be accepted.

Cheers Scott

This is a little quiz
Where I lived as a Kid I used to play on these and get chased out by the Army Guards
They were built to defend --------- during world war two
One of Australian TV stations first tower is on the same hill as the guns??
These guns went to scrap many years ago but building?? is still there

Did I stump everybody
The above picture is at Wollongong and the local kids and me spent a lot of time playing around those guns and at that time the Army was still in control of the site this was in the early 1950s
WIN TV started at Wollongong with a tower up behind the guns the tower has gone now but the offices are still there even the road between the guns is called television ave
If you have 'Google Earth' and search 'Television Ave Coniston New South wales' you can see where the guns were
