Hi Ian,   a mate in SA had a set of these but unfortunately he  passed away a few years ago. I have no idea what happened to them  but I am sure one of our forum members also collects Garagenailia and should be able to help you.  I can make enquiries through a few of my sone mates , he also collects garagenailia but knows nothing about these sample kits. cheers  John

Also the National Motor Museum at Birdwood SA would also be able to help.

The sample kit you have is late 40's to early early 1950's, they were common from the 1880's onward's, there are a number of account's from the early 1900's of salesman drinking the samples to show potential customers the purity of their product, just what effect this would have on the digestion I hate to think.

Should mention the Caltex logo on the sample kit shown is the 1947 - 96 style and the oil types on some samples were obsolete by the mid 50's and the drinking of samples was not the intended way to demonstrate them, just something some of the salesmen did as a sales pitch.
