Vintage wood turning lathe
« on: 09 January, 2016, 10:36:50 pm »
Hi Fellas I have a Vintage wood turning lathe  for free that I would like to go to a good home . Ether an individual or a club. I cannot tell you much a bought it other than I was told it was originally used in the Queensland railway workshop. It is pulled apart for transport but was working perfect with new bearings fitted . I have seen it running and it is a delight to hear and see. It has a working  big electric motor with a wooden pulley ,but I think it would complement a stationary steam engine . The lathe bed is over 6 feet long and I have all the parts for the lathe.
This site will not load any of my pictures of it . But you can see some photos of it on Gumtree Gold Coast under  Vintage wood turning  lathe  Pick up on the Gold Coast . my e mail dtv@iinet.net.au  Regards Darrell

That is interesting it has been made up
The head has been raised for larger diameter jobs
The base support, laundry tubs supports
'H' channel for the base
Someone has had fun making it and most likely better than a bought one
With a bed that long 6'  I wounder what it was used for

Well it looks like It has found a new home in Warwick . I am happy to say by one of your members who plans to display it with his vintage motors . I look forward to seeing it running at a  vintage machinery  show.

Hello all
Gees you've got a good memory Cobba.  Sad thing is we're about a 18x9m shed behind at the moment. :-[
