G'day
« on: 18 June, 2016, 09:19:53 pm »
G'day,

Been interested in getting involved with old engines for a fair while now and finally bit the bullet.
Had an opportunity to buy a couple of Southern Cross AKB 3s so I bought them. One turns over and has fairly good compression and the other is stuck but has about an inch of movement.
Both are missing parts so hopefully I'll be able to source some from the net.
Any way I'll try and post up some photos.

Kind regards
Jeff.

Hello Jeff
I seem to have corresponded with you somewhere else  ;D
Good spot this. I'm sure you'll get all the help you'll need. I know, as I have gratefully recieved all the help I've ever needed playing around with this time wasting, money wasting, shed space hoarding, mongrel of a hobby I started a couple of short years ago. I'm amased just how willing the chaps here are to help people. My main source of information, or help, is still here :D

Cheers then

Hi Jeff

Welcome Aboard, looks like you have a couple of nice engines to start on, with patience the missing parts will turn up somewhere, but it wont hurt to adapt until this happens !!!!
Be aware that indulging in this hobby= bigger shed, trailer ect.............. we are all living proof of this!!!!!
The farm pumper style flat cast mufflers are usually available reproduction quite cheaply

Cheers Justin

Justin,

Thanks.
From reading a few threads on this forum I'm starting to get an inclination that these two engines may not be the last.
Wasn't aware of so many different makes and models of stationary engines.
Keen on getting a hit and miss engine in the future but for now I have my hands full.
Regards
Jeff.
