Title: Rather unusual roller bearings
Post by: Teddy on 09 April, 2014, 09:05:04 pm
Hi All
The attached pics (I hope) show two roller bearings from a little Pacific 2 cylinder 2 stroke petrol powered fire fighting pump.
Crankshaft  diameter is 7/8", outer diameter of bearing is 1 3/8", roller diameter is 1/4". roller length is 3/8", and the rollers are identical, even though the cages are different.

No name or any ID scribed on the bearings.

Anyone out there familiar with these, and more importantly, where they might be purchased?

Thanks for any replies, in advance

Teddy

hi Teddy
They are just needle roller bearings
Do they run directly on to the crankshaft?
Outer diameter?
crank 7/8", outer diameter of bearing is 1 3/8", roller diameter is 1/4
Did you measure the OD while the bearing was still on the crank
Is there a outer housing?
The roller length is very short, what width is the whole bearing
I cant find any bearing listed the sizes you have
Have you tried a local bearing supply ? I,m sure they would have one to fit,

As Ian said ....needle bearings ,designed for radial thrust/ load.....sometimes used  for bearings on the wheels of the trolleys for our old engines .

I would have thought that almost any bearing shop would either have them or can get them.

I know its old thread but 741 indian was plentiful from WW2 theres a good chance the roller cages are army surplus , same dia shaft and i.d race
on ebay.au theres 1/4" roller sets
genuine rollers are available in oversize too ,  .005 increments , thrust washers are out there too
