Title: Rosebery 3c vertical
Post by: muttley on 13 September, 2019, 06:46:44 pm
Hi
I am new to the site and vintage engines. The problem i have with my Rosebery 3c is that after starting the engine and letting it warm up when i try to switch it over to kero it will not run. Its like it cant pick up the fuel out of the tank as it runs very well on the small hopper that you put the petrol in. Hoping someone might have an idea of the problem. I have checked the small check valve in the fuel line and it seems to be ok. If i apply a small amount of air into the tank it will run fine until you stop the air flow. I hope this post dose not sound to silly. Thanks.

Mr Muttley
Try with the cap off as the fuel cap breather hole may be clogged.
The non return valve needs to work quite well to be able to pick up fuel.
Also check the hole that's at the end of the mixture screw in the carbi casting. It may have crude in it stopping the fuel getting past.
If they're all free then just unscrew the mixture screw a bit more and see what happens.

Cheers Scott

Hi Scott. Thanks very much for your help. There is a very small hole in the fuel cap that is clear. After removing the cap the old girl runs fine. Looking at the cap now it may not be the original. I will drill the vent hole a little larger until it is running with the cap on. Cheers Muttley.
