Title: Southern cross and lister engines and generators repair manuals for restorations
Post by: Glenno7685 on 14 November, 2020, 08:24:04 pm
Hi everyone

First time posting here.
I have acquired a number of old lister and southern cross engines and some generators that I would like to restore as much as possible.
My question is where can I obtain either repair/rebuild or maintenance manuals to help with the process and expand my knowledge.

Any help would be appreciated and also with identification of some of the engines and comparability with associated generators etc.
I can email more pics of engines and serial numbers to assist.

Regard

Glenn

Glenn,
Welcome to the site, I'm sure you will receive a lot of information here. The best thing to do is to give the members as much information about the engines and generators as you can, all the details from the name plates and if possible photos, otherwise we are guessing what you require.
Cockie.

Gday guys

Thanks for the replies
I tried to add some pics but it won?t let me off my phone so I?ll have to wait till I get home to the computer.
I have the southern cross generator and plant no: 2082
It?s a 1.5kw dc generator 32-40volt 1660 rpm shunt 25amp AOB frame

Then the posters plate says
Type - A. Spec - 52. HP - 2.5
Rpm - 600. No - 40212
Made in England.

I also got a international harvester company engine from Chicago illanois that says
hp type - LA engine
300-500rpm pulley speed
Patent pending No: LA 157 35

Any help with identification and whether they are worth restoring or selling off or keeping for the man cave would be appreciated.

Regards

Glenn

Both are desirable and gen sets are popular ar Rallies if we ever get to go to them again. The LA is also popular so yes worth while getting them running again.

I have a 2HP Apollo and it looks to me to be a rebadged Ronaldson & Tippett.  Runs like a sewing machine.

Listerboy,
Would that be a treadle or electric machine, any chance of a photo?
