seals for boiler access covers
« on: 29 June, 2012, 01:33:56 pm »
Does anyone have any ideas of what material l should use for the numerous boiler access cover seals [gaskets]  and where l might get them. The original seals look like aspestos [l think ,is this right?]

I find Topog E brand gaskets very good. Asbestos gaskets are no longer available but the modern alternatives perform better anyway. You need good clean flat surfaces for a good seal and you need to be pretty precise on sizes.
Tucks in Melbourne is one supplier. They will mail them out.

Last week l finally found the time to go to "TUCKS",l was amazed to find that they had the exact size seals to fit my various boiler covers. Thanks JO for putting me on to them. They also sell tube for level glasses . The company has been around since 1898 ,hope they stay around for many years to come !
