I bought this little setup for the hopper cooled villiers without taking much notice of the compressor.
It was only when I got it home and showed it to a mate who pointed out that the compressor was also hopper cooled

Anyone seen one of these before in Oz? I was told it was used to start a 100hp crossley at a sawmill.

Has anyone restored one?
My main interest is water pumps but I do have 80 stationary engines

Hello all
What a great little combination. Even a cast baseplate with name and stuff.

I have not seen one like that but I have a water cooled compressor. A Goulds.
I got it simply because it was unusual....and the big pulley on it's side.

I wonder why they'd need a water cooled compressor? It shouldn't be going for long if it was to start a Crossley. but I suppose compressors get hot quickly. Has it got an alloy head/block or cast iron? If it's alloy then that may explain why water cooled a bit.
