International AACO and ACCO
(1/1)
John 54:
Hi All
Does anyone know why International Harvester Australia changed the spelling from AACO to ACCO, for the old butter box COE trucks. And did AACO stand for Australian Army Contract Order or something similar, does ACCO stand for anything? I have always been intrigued as to why they changed the spelling. Thanks for any help.
Regards John

Hi John,
I may be wrong, but as I remember, the first AACO's being a AA cab over, then the ACCO's being C line cab over. The first A stands for Australian production. Don't ask me where the AB cab over went to, but it never made the street.
I expect someone more knowledgeable than me to jump in here.
Cheers,
Steve.

Not knowing the historical details of the ACCO, though I remember when they first arrived, I had a look at Google. I don't know how accurate this story is, but it sounds feasible.
