Does anyone know the name or code of the paint colours the BDC's came in? Mine (1949) is a pinky, reddy, orangy sort of colour, I want to clean it up as part of the restore and would prefer to keep the colour it is. No idea if it is original but I think it is and looking at every other BDC picture I have seen, mine seems to have far more paint on it than most. I may leave it as is but the previous owner was very liberal with red oxide primer in an attempt to stop it rusting in his shed .

Ben

Many of the engines from the B series on (1945) were painted Indian Red (the same colour used by Queensland Rail for their old wooden carriages).

Thanks Ian.

Dulux metalshield has an Indian Red, will buy a tin and see how it looks.
