Ronaldson Tippett fuel pump.
« on: 18 January, 2019, 09:31:29 pm »
New to this forum, just wondering I have a Ronaldson Tippett 3 1/2 horsepower Diesel engine which I cannot get the fuel pump to work. The fuel pump was seized and I have freed it up but I need a delivery valve washer, pump and injector brand is Pyrox, have cleaned all fuel system out and tested injector ok, original washer was a folded over piece of copper with a fibre piece between it. OD 625 thou, ID 465 thou, thickness 90 thou, can anyone guide me to where I might be able to get something or I might make a copper washer, thanks for any reply?s.

The delivery valve seal required has the CAV part no. 5936-22. The copper laminated fiber seals were superseded by a fiber washer and now by nylon. A seal should be available from any fuel injection service specialist. I will send you a PM.

Bit of an update on this project, it?s been a while, couldn?t get the fuel pump to work, got a fuel pump element from overseas which turned out to be the wrong one, got the right one, have a massive water leak into the sump, started with no water in it. Got the cylinder liner out, no o rings, fair bit of wear and corrosion on the liner, liner reuse ? Have to think on that one, might have to make a new injector line as well, anyway that?s where I?m up to.

This is how restorations go sometimes. It can be like opening a can of worms. Persist with it and you will win in the end. We do these things for the enjoyment and try hard not to think about the cost too much. It is always an experience breaking into another project.

Yes it has turned into a drawn out project but to cut a long story short I need another conrod, a liner in better condition and a fuel pump cam follower or complete old engine, it?s a Ronaldson Tippett 3 1/2 hp diesel, type ch, any help appreciated
