Found this
« on: 22 March, 2019, 02:58:27 pm »
Last weekend away I found this sitting out the front of a museum. IT is still there as I have no need for it but it took me a while to realise what make it was.
I found a picture of it in the window out front and they identified it.
It is odd that it breathes from the crankcase or bum like a frog and is possibly why these engines rarely run consistently or at all.
My last comment will create some feed back!

Hi John you need to look up Jelbart engines
They don't breath from the sump
The piston is doubled ended and the air is compressed in the sump and feed to the head by tubes that are missing
There is a lot missing which help the understand how it works

Rustyengines, they do breath through the sump as thats the reason for the valve assembly on back of crank case.

Yes  the air is sucked into the sump compressed then sent to the piston chamber by tubs/pipe on the outside of the engine
One pipe goes on the outside through carbi the other over the top of engine
Also what is strange about these engines they are a 2 stroke but have 3 valves working of one push rod

I knew it was an odd one and when I saw the picture of it in a cabinet stating Jelbart I though i now know why it is still sitting outside. It sure does have a lot missing but I don't like seeing relics left out in the open with no possibility of the current owners doing anything with it. It is a waste. Someone with another engine the same may want it as a another project even parts or another collector looking for a real challenge.
I guess this can be the fate of any relic being left in the hands of museums no matter what they are.
