Hello Eric
Are all Kelly Lewis built engines numbered sequentially?

Consecutive numbering started with 244. Each model before that started with No 1, except the BW which started at 101.

Hello Eric
Thank you.
How many engines in total did they make?
Is it possible to put a rough dating guide on here with the engine number of the start of each year?
Our 2 Bartrams do not have a number on them anywhere other then on the conrod. That would not be the serial number would it? From what I've been told they were sold to one bloke in Northern NSW for his two sons. Each one was given a farm next to each other in South Gundurimba (Lismore). Anything in the records?

When I first got hold of these records, my intention was to quietly work on them until they were put into a presentable form and could be published on the internet. People on forums like this ask questions to which I have the answer, so in answering them the cat has escaped from the bag!

I am going right through the records again to pick up errors. Not as slow as the initial transcription from microfiche to computer, which took many months, but not fast either.

I was hoping that my KL website, or whatever, would include illustrations and specifications of all models produced. This is going to be one of the hardest things to achieve.

A yearly production guide could be drawn up, starting from August 1916, when consecutive numbering started. About 13235 total made.

Only rarely were engines sold to individuals. The majority went to an agent or distributor. The end user was not recorded.

I had a look and those 2 numbers are 43 and 45. They're on BW's.
Do those numbers correlate with anything?

Apart from the engine serial number, the only other numbers in the test records are the magneto or fuel pump serial numbers. We can only guess what those conrod numbers mean.

Eric,
Do you have the production figures for the KL Bulldog tractors?
Also, do you have any photos of the factory in Springvale and what was the address?

The only production records I have are for engines. Not sure about actual records, but contact Craig Pink, KL Bulldog register, phone 03 52346220, evenings.

The only address you ever see on KL literature is Springvale. I have not done an extensive search to find the complete address. Hopefully someone reading this will know. A photo of the factory can be seen here: tinyurl.com/y32mv7ox
