The guts of that switch are really common. They are usually a toggle type (it probably is if you pull it to bits). The last of them were branded "Rowco". Nearly every older commercial building is full of them. I have a few floating around here, but in the usual rectangular housing.

Yes they were used for quite a few purposes, I know that the Stampco washing machine had that exact switch to operate the heating element it is a 50's 60's era, in fact I believe I may still have an unused one in my shelves somewhere, dare say my sons will find it when I fall off the perch, Ha Ha!

What you would call a over the top heavy duty ignition kill switch, who ever installed this type of switch certainly could have used a smaller switch and not so cumbersome, probably never see another switch like this again attached to a Villiers engine.
