Engine oil for EFD
« on: 14 July, 2020, 11:53:25 am »
Hi all. New here. I have an EFD i?d like to get going, but first i want to drain the old crappy oil and fuel out of it. So what engine oil should i use? I?ve heard a 20 weight series 3 detergent oil is recommended but I?m having trouble finding any. Also what fuel filter fits? Thank you cheers

Welcome to the Forum and hopefully soon you will be up and running.
Most of the diesel oils will work for this engine.

So long as there isn't water in the fuel, it'll probably run just fine on it. I drained around 20 litres of water and then the diesel that was sitting on top of that from my old Farmall tractor. About a year later, after I rebuilt the engine (rusted solid), the thing ran quite happily on the diesel that had been in the tank.

Thanks for the reply fellas. I drained the oil and fuel put Delo 15w/40 in the sump and a Fleetgard FF167A fuel filter on her bled the fuel system wound her over about 20 times and she sputtered into life for the first time in god knows how long. Runs like a dream. Starts 1st crank most times now. I?m rapt
