Timing mark location lister

Hi all I cannot locate the timing mark on my lister Junior tank cooled engine, the manual indicates that it is on the flywheel, is it on the face or side and which fly wheel, on the face of one of the flywheels the is a number which is stamp clearly. thanks in advance

Not sure but some brands use a line on the face of the flywheel. Possibly need to clean off the years of paint that maybe hiding your timing mark. Someone will come along who owns a Lister D and be able to tell you for sure.
In the manual does it indicate where to look, face or side? Bring engine up to TDC on compression and look much closer.

The magneto side fly wheel will have a timing mark on the face. It is in the form of a lightning bolt and, the points should just open when the mark lines up with the spark plug.
